MND SAFETY, a key player in mountain safety, continues its international expansion with a large-scale project in Norway. This initiative, involving the installation of 24 removable O’BellX avalanche control systems, highlights MND’s commitment to providing innovative solutions for protecting people and infrastructure in extreme conditions.
The project is located on the island of Arnøya, within a Sami territory in northern Norway. It ensures the safety of a vital road used for seafood transportation and by local residents, while also serving a popular ski touring destination.
Collaboration with the Municipality of Tromsø and Distributor MHM Entreprenør & Service AS
The project was awarded through a Norwegian public tender to the Municipality of Tromsø, a region facing harsh weather conditions. With the support of MHM, a new local partner, MND SAFETY successfully met the stringent requirements of the tender with its O’BellX Option+ removable avalanche control solution (the most powerful in the range).
In collaboration with MHM, MND SAFETY supplied and installed a system across 24 firing points, ensuring constant monitoring and optimal safety in this mountainous area. The solution comes with a five-year operation and maintenance contract, with an option for extension over three additional five-year periods.
The 24 O’BellX solutions, remotely operated via radio and 4G through the Safety-cs supervision software, are designed to function in extreme conditions, including during the polar night, a period marked by the absence of natural light and freezing temperatures. The on-site installation was successfully completed before winter’s arrival. These advanced remote avalanche control systems are now operational, ensuring optimal site safety while maintaining its activity.
