In the mountain resort of Chimgan, Uzbekistan, the four-season transformation is taking shape. Two years after the launch of this large-scale project entrusted to French industrial group MND, the construction site is now entering a decisive phase that will bring to life one of Central Asia’s first international mountain leisure destinations, accessible all year round.
A large-scale project supported by exceptional logistics
All studies and authorisations have now been approved, and more than two-thirds of the equipment has been produced and is currently being shipped to Uzbekistan. Out of approximately 300 logistics convoys required for the project, nearly 200 have already left the group’s Savoy-based factories, with deliveries continuing progressively through spring.
Construction work continued throughout the winter despite demanding weather conditions, highlighting both the strategic importance of this state-led project and the ongoing commitment of the teams working on site.
Major infrastructure currently under construction
Several key milestones have been reached over the past quarter:
A collective mobilisation across the group
The construction site currently involves nearly 100 people on site, with a gradual ramp-up expected to reach around 200 employees and partners in the coming months, in line with the project’s operational schedule.
Bringing together all four MND business lines – ROPEWAYS, SNOW, SAFETY and LEISURE – as well as its subsidiary MBS, responsible in particular for signage and ski slope safety equipment, the project perfectly illustrates MND’s integrated model: a single partner able to design, manufacture and install complete, durable and high-performance infrastructure.
Designed, manufactured and assembled in France, at the heart of the group’s Savoy facilities, the equipment is then transported and installed on site, showcasing French industrial expertise for a project that is innovative and structuring for tourism development in Central Asia.
Looking ahead to 2026
By the end of 2026, all resort facilities will be delivered and operational. Construction of the future C2 aerial tramway will begin this year, with commissioning planned for 2027. The tramway will connect the valley to the upper areas of the site, with a summit station reaching 3,300 metres.
As Mountain Planet, the international mountain development trade show held at Grenoble Alpexpo from 21 to 23 April, approaches, Chimgan is emerging as a major project in the development of sustainable mountain tourism. It showcases the expertise of French group MND in the design and construction of modern four-season mountain resorts designed to integrate sustainably into their territories.
