Developed in the late 1980s, Gazex™ was the world’s first system enabling remote preventive avalanche release without the use of solid explosives. This major innovation profoundly transformed avalanche risk management for mountain roads and infrastructure.
THE KEY FEATURES OF GAZEX™
Available 24/7 and regardless of weather conditions, the system enables a rapid activation process (less than 2 minutes per shot), generating a powerful aerial explosion above the snowpack. Shots can be triggered as often as required and at the right moment.
No explosive handling or human intervention is required within the avalanche-prone area to be secured. This fully remote-controlled solution can therefore be adapted to highly inaccessible sites without exposing personnel to risk.
Depending on site configuration, operation and maintenance can be carried out with or without the use of a helicopter, according to access and logistical constraints.
Operating with a gas mixture, GAZEX™ leaves no chemical residue on the terrain after triggering. Without explosives, it helps reduce environmental impact while complying with increasingly demanding regulatory and environmental requirements.
GUARANTEED TRIGGERING AND REMOTE ACCESSIBILITY
SAFETY-cs is accessible from any device with an internet connection (PC or tablet). The software is connected to all MND equipment, ensuring complete management of your installation.
Because cities, infrastructures and ski resorts must be protected at all times, a fail-safe double redundancy system has been implemented: dual communication (4G and radio) and dual software access (online and local).

THE GAZEX™ IN NUMBERS
- Explosion capacity: 0.8 m³, 1.5 m³ or 3 m³
- Delivery: Helicopter-transportable modules weighing less than 750 kg
- Gas control unit: CIII shelter (up to 10 connected exploders) or Mini-Shelter (1 to 2 connected exploders)

- Power supply: 12V battery (recharged via regulator & solar panel) or depolarization batteries (in case of insufficient sunlight)
