Skuleberget – the World Heritage Site’s signature and one of the High Coast’s most famous landmarks in Sweden has opened its new cable car on 29 June 2021.
Alongside Kramfors municipality council, local partners and all teams involved in this project, County Governor Berit Högman had the great honour of cutting the ribbon and declaring the cable car open at 1pm. Manufactured by MND, this 4-seaters chairlift will participate in the tourism development of this must-see site on the shores of the Baltic.
«It’s a fantastic job, marked by a sense of togetherness, of which I am very proud. The cable car with its new infrastructure in the form of service facilities and parking not only increases the attractiveness of the municipality, it is a draw for the whole of Västernorrland«, says Malin Svanholm (S), chairman of Kramfors municipal council.
«MND is proud to be part of the development of Skuleberget as Sweden’s best outdoor destination together with Kramfors Municipality as the new lift now goes into operation. Skuleberget is a symbol of the High Coast and we believe that this 4-seater cable car will raise the attractiveness of the site through the various activities offered in the area.» Magnus Engström, MND Sales Area Manager for Sweden
About the story of the project
When it became clear that the old cable car had had its day, the municipality of Kramfors took a political decision to become the driving force behind the work to replace the old one. With the intention of developing Skuleberget into Sweden’s best outdoor destination, a mighty effort has been underway.
«From the start of the feasibility study to the time the spade was put in the ground and everything is now ready, it has gone like clockwork. I see it as proof that it was right to hire local subcontractors with a heart for the area, who, under the leadership of site manager Jonas Hörnfeldt, have done a great job«, says Culture and Leisure Director Patrik Asplund.
MND Scandinavia stands as the main contractor and the co-financiers are DBTK (Docksta table tennis club), Region Västernorrland and the EU Structural Partnership for Central Norrland.
Together brings courage and vitality
The work on the new cable car area has been characterised by collaboration and cooperation, a success factor that is already making a difference. During construction, local contractors have sold goods and services, new businesses have started up and interest from local residents is high.
«I am incredibly proud and grateful for the drive, commitment and cooperation behind the opening of the freshest cable car facility in Sweden. It will be a strong engine for the whole of Västernorrland and especially the High Coast«, says Susanne Königson, Director of Growth and Business.
