MND strengthens its industrial footprint in the French Alps following official visit from Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region President

Just days ahead of Mountain Planet 2026, MND welcomed the President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region to its industrial site in Sainte-Hélène-du-Lac, Savoie. This official visit highlights the Group’s development, its strong regional roots, and its industrial model serving mobility, safety and leisure in mountain environments.

“The visit of the President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region to our Sainte-Hélène-du-Lac site is a strong signal for all MND teams. It recognizes the progress made over the past 20 years and the industrial momentum we are building for the years ahead.
Rooted in the Alps and open to the world, MND continues to grow steadily across all its business lines – ropeway mobility, snowmaking, mountain safety and leisure infrastructure – with a clear positioning: delivering proven, sustainable and useful solutions for territories, both in France and internationally.
Thanks to the commitment of our 300 employees and the trust of more than 3,000 clients across nearly 50 countries, we have transformed MND into a leading industrial group capable of designing, manufacturing, installing and maintaining comprehensive solutions for mobility, safety and leisure.
Our strategic plan ‘Yes We Care 2030’ sets a clear direction: combining economic performance, environmental responsibility and strong local roots. At a time when mountain regions and urban areas alike are seeking efficient and reliable solutions, MND positions itself as a long-term industrial partner, with products designed and manufactured in the French Alps, short supply chains, and a strong commitment to supporting local employment.
This visit is also an opportunity to reaffirm that reindustrialization cannot be decreed overnight: it is built over time, project by project, investment by investment, in close collaboration with local authorities, operators and industry stakeholders. This is exactly what we do at MND, with a constant ambition: shaping the future of ropeway mobility and leisure, from Savoie to mountain ranges and metropolitan areas around the world.”
— Xavier Gallot-Lavallée, Chairman of MND Group

MND: a global industrial player rooted in its territory and committed to “Made in France”

A leading industrial group dedicated to mountain and territorial development, MND operates across five continents in around fifty countries, supported by a structured network of international offices and partners. This global reach is built on a distinctive industrial model: a single production site in Sainte-Hélène-du-Lac (Savoie), bringing together all key functions — engineering, R&D, manufacturing, assembly, testing and services.

Established in the heart of the Alps for over twenty years, the site now spans more than five hectares and underwent a major €10 million expansion in 2024. This investment supports the Group’s growth, enhances working conditions and enables the development of new ropeway transport product lines, strengthening overall production and engineering capabilities.

This development is part of a clear low-carbon industrial trajectory: centralized inventory management, reduced logistics flows, strong reliance on regional suppliers, and large-scale deployment of energy efficiency solutions. All buildings are heated via geothermal energy, while more than 2,500 m² of photovoltaic panels complement existing solar installations to increase the site’s energy autonomy.

Beyond infrastructure, MND champions a “Made in France” model, with products designed and manufactured locally, close to the mountain territories that define its DNA. This approach ensures quality control, delivery reliability, and long-term support for local industrial employment and expertise.

From an ESG perspective, the “Yes We Care 2030” strategic plan translates into measurable targets: a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2035 across all scopes, 100% of new products eco-designed by 2030 in line with circular economy principles, and systematic integration of environmental criteria across all projects.

Major projects underway: Chimgan, Massanutten, Boone’s Ridge, Hauteville, La Réunion…

MND’s commercial momentum is reflected in a strong pipeline of major contracts across its four business lines — ROPEWAYS, SNOW, SAFETY and LEISURE — demonstrating its ability to support territories with integrated mobility, leisure and safety solutions.

In Uzbekistan, MND is leading the four-season development of the Chimgan mountain resort, a flagship project combining ropeways, snowmaking systems, avalanche control technologies, slope safety and leisure infrastructure. All MND equipment is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2026, with an 80-passenger reversible aerial tramway set to be commissioned in 2027 at an altitude of 3,400 meters.

In North America, MND continues to expand its presence, notably in Massanutten (Virginia), where it is deploying leisure infrastructure, and at Boone’s Ridge (Kentucky), where MND ROPEWAYS will construct a 7.3 km gondola lift at the heart of a major new nature-based destination spanning 4,800 hectares.
In the United States, MND SAFETY also continues its long-standing partnership with the California Department of Transportation, deploying avalanche risk mitigation systems along Highway 88 in the Sierra Nevada, reinforcing over 20 years of collaboration with CALTRANS.

In France, MND is supporting strategic territorial projects, including a new four-season rail toboggan in Hauteville, designed to integrate seamlessly into its environment while offering an accessible and high-impact leisure experience.

In La Réunion, MND was awarded the contract for the construction and operation of the La Montagne urban cable car. Named ZÈL, it is the world’s first energy-neutral urban ropeway system, powered by a smart grid combining energy recovery and photovoltaic production. Connecting Bellepierre to La Montagne in just four minutes, it will significantly improve daily mobility while reducing congestion and emissions.

These projects complement numerous other references worldwide, from immersive leisure experiences in Les Sybelles (France) to ropeway installations in Belgium, avalanche control systems in Norway, and advanced snowmaking solutions across Europe and Asia — illustrating MND’s ability to export high-level French industrial expertise and build long-term partnerships.

Mountain Planet: a key milestone for MND

At Mountain Planet 2026, a major global event for the mountain ecosystem, MND will welcome international delegations and decision-makers to showcase its full range of solutions and latest innovations.
The event will notably highlight new developments within MND SAFETY, the global leader in non-explosive avalanche control systems, including Gazex™, O’BellX™ and DaisyBell™ technologies, designed to protect roads, ski resorts, industrial sites and competition venues.

Winter Olympics 2030: supporting territories for the long term

The 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games represent a major challenge for the French Alps, both economically and environmentally. Building on its experience in international events — including the Milan-Cortina Games — MND has demonstrated its expertise in mobility systems and large-scale site safety, deploying ropeways, avalanche control systems and protective infrastructures.

This experience in delivering comprehensive safety solutions in sensitive mountain environments provides a strong foundation for supporting future Olympic sites with the same level of operational excellence and environmental responsibility.

A shared vision for the future of mountain territories

The official visit of the President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region highlights the shared ambition between the Region and MND to position mountain areas as drivers of innovation, transition and employment.
Just ahead of Mountain Planet, it reinforces MND’s role in shaping the industrial, economic and tourism future of the French Alps.
