The Virignin footbridge, which opened on July 23, 2021, will allow for the continuity of the ViaRhôna, the bicycle route that links Lake Leman, near Geneva, to the Mediterranean, by connecting two departments in France: La Balme in Savoie and Virignin in the Ain. This link provides a safe alternative, respecting the natural and heritage issues of the area – Natura 2000 zone – while constituting a strong point of tourist attraction.
