On the border between France and Spain, the Col de Pourtalet is one of the most beautiful routes in the heart of the Pyrenees at an altitude of almost 1,800 metres. In addition to the avalanche triggering systems installed since 2004, the customer wanted to equip itself with a radar to accurately monitor the areas and assess the avalanche risk. A genuine decision-making tool, this device measures snow depths, detects natural or triggered avalanches and checks whether there is human activity in the area, whatever the weather conditions. This complete system ensures that this major road link between the two countries remains accessible.
